Annu Palakunnathu Matthew is an Indian-American artist and a professor at the University of Rhode Island.  She is known for her work in photography and digital imaging. Born in England and raised in India, her artworks often explore themes of identity, migration, and the intersection of cultural and personal narratives.

Matthew's projects often involve the use of historical photographs and archives, reimagining and reinterpreting them in contemporary contexts. Her work raises questions about memory, history, and the construction of individual and collective identities.

One of her well-known series is "An Indian from India," where she examines the stereotypes associated with Native Americans and challenges viewers to reconsider preconceived notions.
