Ram Rahman is the son of the renowned Indian architect Habib Rahman and renowned Indian classical dancer Indrani Rahman. He studied physics at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology before returning to India and becoming involved in photography and the arts.

As a photographer, Ram Rahman has captured a wide range of subjects, including street scenes, portraits, and social issues. He is also associated with the Safdar Hashmi Memorial Trust (SAHMAT), an organization dedicated to the promotion of secularism, pluralism, and cultural expression.
